Microsoft just launched their own social network: so-cl

Another attempt at beating Facebook at their game. Facebook worked because it was somewhat radically new and because no social network had won the battle yet, but that was back in the mid-10s. It is extremely difficult to beat a market-dominating organization like Facebook in their game. So pick another game. Will be interesting to see if it will become a wasteland as fast as Google+. Good Luck Microsoft!

Build Your Foundation First

An excellent idea is never enough to start a successful and thriving business. You need to do all the boring work first. Create a foundation before the roof is raised. Earn more money than you spend – from day one. And most importantly: be in control.

Inc.com had an interesting article on this topic and how Groupon has fared since their IPO: http://www.inc.com/erik-sherman/the-key-to-start-up-success-be-boring.html
